Living Life in the Word Lesson 15: Longsuffering

Theme Scripture: Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is...longsuffering"    As we continue with our series, the "Fruit of the Spirit", we come to the topic of longsuffering. Longsuffering is something we do not like to go through. In our modern day society where everything is fast and "high-speed", when it comes to testing and trials and even waiting on God, we think that it should be the same also. We, as human beings, do not like to suffer. We like suffering, as long as we aren't the ones suffering. However, as we are nearing the return of Christ, Jesus is sending out messages to whip his people into shape. God is telling us that in these last days, we will have to have some longsuffering.   What is longsuffering anyway? Well, to find that out, just separate the word into two: long and suffering . As a result, longsuffering is the ability to suffer long in spite of  persecution and problems, especially when done by other people. It is th...

Living Life in the Word Lesson 14: Peace

Theme Scripture: Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is... peace..."    As we continue through this journey of learning about the fruit of the Spirit, we come to the topic of peace. In this lesson, we will talk about the two types of peace in relation to God and how they are received.    First of all, in order to understand peace in general, you must understand that peace is divided into two sub-categories: the peace of   God and the peace with  God. Both types of peace are important to the believer, but also the sinner as well. Both types of peace play an important role in any person's life, simply because you need one type of peace in order to have the other. 1. Peace of God  Philippians 4:7 says " And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Colossians 3:15 also says " And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be...

There is no set scripture, but we will be using a variety of scriptures for this lesson. Without further ado, let us begin with the first question. What is joy?                                                                                                                                            According to the Full Life Study Bible, Joy is the feeling of gladness based on the love, grace, blessings, promises, and nearness of God that belongs to those who believe in Jesus (i.e...

Living Life In The Word Lesson 12: Love

Theme Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13 " 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 4  Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5  Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6  Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7  Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8  Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall c...

Living Life In The Word Lesson 11: The Fruit of the Spirit Overview

Theme Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." This lesson is an overview of the next 9 lessons. The next 9 lessons will be an in-depth study to each of the fruit of the Spirit. What are the fruit of the Spirit, first of all? The fruit of the Spirit is the characteristics and/or attributes that every believer should exhibit. When we are born naturally, we take on the attributes of our parents. As in the natural, so in the spiritually. When we are born of the Spirit, we are adopted into the family of God and therefore take on the attributes of the Spirit. The Fruit of the Spirit are qualities and attributes which the Spirit has which should also be exhibited in the believer. There are nine fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5: 22-23: Love: When we are talking about love, we are not talking about the Eros (sexual  and/or lustful) love...

Living Life In The Word Lesson 10: 1 Timothy 1: 1-17

Theme Scripture: 1 Timothy 1: 1-17 "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, and I went into Macedonia, that thou mightiest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly...
